CUSTOM CERAMIC F.A.Q.
1. Why are ceramic chips more expensive than composites & faux clays?
Ceramic chips are found in nearly every casino in the world. They feature full face printing and high color graphics. Even under heavy casino use, the chips are exremely durable and maintain their vivid graphic images for years. The feel, shuffle ability, cost vs. clays, and print clarity have greatly increased the popularity of ceramics in the last 2 years.
2. How do they stack & shuffle?
The chips stack the same as professional ceramic chips that you find in most casinos around the world. The chipfaces are slightly textured to prevent slipping and add grip during stacking. The rolling edges are now created to have a high gloss finish.
3. How much do these chips weigh?
The chips weigh approximately 10 grams, although their will be very slight variation. Their diameter and thickness make them well suited to standard chipracks and cases.
4. How does the image clarity compare to Nevada Jacks or Chipco?
Following several reviews, our ceramics received marks on par with Chipco in clarity and surpass that of the Nevada Jack chips.
5. Can I put any design I'd like on the rolling edge?
Using designs that would lose their integrity with any vertical movement is tough to pull off. If you decide for example, to use a diamond on the rolling edge, you shoud expect some movement. We do not guarantee that every chip will have that element centered perfectly on the 3.4 mm high edge. We now offer text or floating edge elements for no extra charge.
6. Can I put text on the rolling edge?
It is now possible to use basic fonts (not intricate or thin) on the rolling edge of our ceramics. We also offer this service at no additional fee. Remember though, that your chips at any one time will be upside down along with your text.
7. How long will it take for chips to arrive at my door once the artwork is approved?
We are typically very responsive during the art design process, forwarding and replying to emails with designs and revisions. Once approved, the chips can be printed and shipped in approximately 1 week depending on the size of the order.
8. Can I reorder if I need more chips in the future? Can someone else order my design?
Your artwork is always kept on file for reorder and will not be sold to any other customers. The minimum reorder is 100 chips under normal circumstances. Most orders require a minimum of 25 chips per denom as well.
9. So how do I order?
Just send us an email with your design idea and any questions to get the order process started. You can attach your own sketch or nearly finished art if you'd like, or simply describe your idea. You can also look thru our semicustom templates or custom gallery for ideas.
10. What method of payment do you accept?
We prefer paypal for quick, safe credit card transactions. Or, you can send a money order.
11. What exactly am I paying for and how many of each chip do I need to buy?
The Art/Setup fee covers all expenses for designing your print ready art which is then sent to for production. Although most ceramic chip producers charge $45-$60 per hour and/or limit your number of revisions, we work with you until the design is perfect for you. We will continue to send mock-ups of your design until final approval.
12. My design is nearly finished, can I get a discount on the Art/Setup fee?
If you have created art which is nearly print-ready in Adobe Illustrator (preferred) or Photoshop, we can offer a discounted art fee since less time will be required to get your art ready for production.
CUSTOM LABEL F.A.Q. (Email us for Label quotes & design questions)
Which poker chips do your 1" labels fit?
There are many manufacturers (mostly Chinese) that have American resellers flooding ebay and the internet with inexpensive, great looking poker chips. Nearly all of these chips are 39mm (including the 9 gram - 13 gram chips). The labels fit these styles nicely in the middle. Some chips (like the Nexgen Series or Texas Hold Em style ) even have a recessed center to further protect your label. Check out our Real Chips section of the website to see how actual 1" labels fit a few of the common designs.
Can I change the colors, text, or graphics on the examples on your website?
Our specialty is "Custom!" You choose to do whatever you'd like to our designs, or go completely original with your own idea. We'll try our best to get the idea from your head to your chips. That may involve several rounds of emails and design modifications, but we'll get it to your specifications before printing.
Can I send you my own image(s)?
Yes. You can send us an image via email to include in your design with our own text/denominations/etc, or you can send your own photo. If you want to completely design your own image that is ready to print, please contact us to determine the best file format, resolution, and image size. Despite our curiousity, please keep your photos R-rated or less.
Are multiple designs/colors/graphics included in the price?
Yes. All design work, whether it is adding/deleting/modifying text, graphics, colors, denominations, even original designs, is included in your cost.
What's the difference between glossy and matte?
Color laser printers produce a vivid, natural sheen image on quality paper (both matte & glossy). However, the glossy has a distinct shine even where the label remains white. It's usually a matter of personal preference as to which will work for your chips. However, glossy is recommended for actual photos or intricately detailed designs with multiple colors.
I think I know what I want, but I want to see a sample first. Can you do that for me?
We will be glad to throw together a design or two to show you how your customized labels will look. Just email us through our ebay auction. If you are really concerned that 1" labels might not work on your chips, contact us to receive a sample pack of glossy and matte designs for testing ($1.50 paypal)
How soon will I get my order?
We pride ourselves on being fast and very responsive to emails. However, we do occassionally take vacations or have business away from our design/printing station. If an ebay auction is currently listed, we are avaialable and can have your design emailed to you for approval and printed within 48 hours of payment.
How durable are these things? Will my labels last forever?
The labels are a 50-60 lb paper which are printed on using a color laser printer at very high dpi resolution. Color laser printed material does not smudge or run like an inkjet printed paper will. However, a solid scratch with a sharp object may damage the image (we've been told they don't do well in beer overnight, either). If you only play with your chips 2-3 per month and are not eating chicken wings & sharpening knives while you play, you should expect a long life from your labels. (We've used our first set for approx. thirty 6-hour home games with no signs of wear on 99% of the labels). Although the life expectancy of our personal sets looks great, your labels will not last forever.
Well then , can I buy a custom chip that will last forever?
Check out our custom ceramic chips!
Can I do something to better protect the labels?
On all our personal sets, we take a few extra minutes before application to apply Preserve It by Krylon. It is a spray-on acrylic that is designed for digital prints on personal home printers. The matte version gives your label a protective, rough texture while the glossy provides a very deep shine. The spray-on process is pretty easy, but you should practice on a seperate picture prior to spraying, especially with the glossy.
How hard are these to apply & what if I damage or totally mess up when applying a label?
If you are ordering 2000 labels or more, we recommend a "chip-sticking" party. Invite your poker buddies over an hour early to your next game and put them to work. You won't need any special tools, just a little patience. If you mess a few up, we always overprint some to make certain you have extras.
Can I take the labels off?
The manufacturer says the label adhesive permanent. This actually means that you can not remove the label without destroying it once it is firmly applied. During application you can relift a misaligned label that has not been pushed tightly against the chip. After that, you will likely have to soak them overnight in soapy water to then brush off the labels. (This is not something we've done or been told by previous customers that they have done either.)
Will the labels make the chips hard to stack or too big for my case?
The labels are fairly thick compared to regular paper. However they are still only a small fraction of an inch. Our cases still neatly accomodate all the original chips. Stacking has never been an issue unless your are trying to make 50 chip black or purple towers to humiliate the losers at the table. Some customers have commented that their cases to were more tight on a few rows, but not to the extent that you had to leave out a chip.
I need more (or less) labels than the ebay auction. What do I do?
Contact us directly through our ebay email address for quotes on different quantities or changing the paper to matte or glossy.
My home poker game has grown into a 10 table 24 hour-Hold Em Extravaganza, so I ordered 2,000 more chips. Can I get the same labels to match my original order from you?
Absolutely. We save all your artwork and have done several third and fourth "re-orders" for customers.
How do I go about ordering/paying?
You can win one of our auctions or contact us directly through our ebay email address. We prefer paypal for payment since it is fast and provides buyer & seller protection. We have over 600 verified paypal transactions and have been a member of ebay since 1998.
I have my own equipment, can you simply design the artwork and email it to me?
For less than the cost or our labels, we'll do your artwork to your specications and email you a ready-to-print image(s).
